'CRUISE' (billed as 'Navegar')

WORLD PREMIERE THIS SATURDAY 8TH JULY
19H LONDON 15H BRAZIL
ONLINE ZOOM PERFORMANCE FOR FESTIVAL ECRA
45 mins with Q&A

Join me online this Saturday for the world premiere of my new livestream Zoom performance 'Cruise' ('Navegar' in Portuguese) for Brazil based FESTIVAL ECRA.

Juxtaposing the politics and practices of cruising and spaces of production, this performance explores some of the complexities involved in gay male cruising. Innovative media reuse, text back and looping, voice layering and the use of filters on the Zoom platform result in a repetitive multi-layered multimedia socially specific creative live performance by British author Lee Campbell. Through colourful, immersive, structured, organic and disorientating collage, the artist narrates the experiences of gay men through his personal autobiography - combining both fact and fiction to encourage the audience to find the truth in the fantasy. The imagery that appears through the performance, with the appearance of it being 'projected' onto his body - is made up of Lee's personal archive of artworks ranging from the last twenty-five years.
